Reductil.
Reductil (sibutramine) must be combined with a reduced-calorie diet to help the patient taking it lose excessive weight. Make sure you tell your doctor if you did not lose at least 4 pounds after taking Meridia for 4 weeks as recommended. Meridia is FDA pregnancy category C – it is not known for sure whether this medicine can pass into breast milk and it is not known for sure whether it can affect the health of an unborn baby. Please let your doctor know if you are taking MAO inhibitors – as the combination of MAO inhibitors with Reductil can be fatal. Other meds that can also cause some interactions (although minor ones) include ergot medicines, tryptophan, antidepressants, migraine headache medicines, narcotic pain medications, and lithium. Any other herbal supplements of vitamins you are intending to use must also be reported. Reductil rarely causes side effects but mild ones are common, especially at the beginning of your treatment. Such mild side effects as weakness, dry mouth, headache, runny nose, flushing, back pain, flu-like symptoms, heartburn, constipation, nervousness, and change in appetite are possible but do not last for too long.
